Maija's Crusty Rustic Loaf
A favorite with french onion soup and balderson aged white cheddar.
Preparation Time: 5 minutes, 12-14 hour rise.
Cook Time: 45 minutes
3 cups flour
1 3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon instant/rapid rise yeast
1 1/2 cup water
1. Whisk together dry ingredients (with any additions you would like; shredded cheese, herbs, nuts, etc.)
2. Add water and mix together until it forms a shaggy ball.
3. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and let sit 12-18 hours.
4. heat oven with dutch oven inside to 450 degrees.
5. Meanwhile, pour dough onto heavily floured surface and shape into a ball.
6. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to set while pot heats.
7. Drop heavily floured dough into pot, cover with lid and place back into oven.
8. Bake for 30 minutes with lid on, then additional 15 without.
9. Cool on wire rack.
